WindEng 2010 Teacher Workshop
Rozanski Hall 107, University of Guelph
KidWind will be back in Canada for the WindENG 2010 Competition!
In conjunction with University of Guelph's WindEng High School Wind Energy Design Competition we are holding a KidWind teacher workshop. The workshop will go in depth into the science and engineering behind wind turbines. Attending teachers will learn to build and test classroom wind turbines while also being exposed to ideas and lesson plans for engaging, hands-on science activities. This will be a full day event where attendees can learn about wind energy technologies, participate in a student driven wind energy competition and go home with wind energy materials and lesson plans for their classroom.
The Teacher Workshop will be held from 10:00am-2:30pm. You will have the flexibility to leave the session to watch your students compete during the day if you wish. You do not have to be a participant of WindENG to attend this workshop.

WindEng 2010 Student Workshop
Rozanski Hall 107, University of Guelph
KidWind will also be holding a student workshop. Topics include a short presentation on wind energy science/technology and the current status of the wind industry, jobs available in the industry, issues facing the industry, and comparing wind power to other sources of electrical generation. You will have time to build and test wind turbine blades, and do some experiments on blade shape/size, number of blades, blade pitch, airfoil shape, etc.. If there is time you will also be able to try pumping water using a wind turbine and see demonstrations using electricity to electrolyze water and produce Hydrogen in a Fuel Cell.
This is a drop in workshop and will be held from 9:00am-9:45am. See the Resources page for additional information about parking and directions.
