2012

We invite you to compete in the 6th annual WindENG Competition!

Friday April 27, 2012

Registration begins Monday February 6, 2012

WindENG is an annual high school design competition. The task consists of constructing an energy generating wind turbine that uses a DC motor as the generator. Following the design criteria and constraints outlined in this website, the competition team will be required to construct their wind turbine and have it ready to be tested for the date of the competition. Be advised that each year we incorporate a new twist on a familiar task to level the playing field between new and seasoned participants.

Harnessing wind energy is an exciting prospect for providing solutions to our province's energy needs. The government’s recent decision to open net metering to the general public helps make clean renewable energy more accessible to all. The objective of this competition is to promote interest for environmentally sound alternative energy solutions and foster engineering design skills.

Join our Facebook group - "University of Guelph Engineering – WindENG” to receive updates or to post comments or questions that you may have for past or present competitors.
